About Us | Padilla Enterprises Inc DBA BUILDIT Deck Builders Casper WY
BUILDIT Deck Builders Casper WY may be a new name, but for over three decades we have been delivering quality services to homeowners and businesses around the country.
We are Wyoming natives, matching this ruthless landscape with tenacity and grit.
Like so many Wyoming residents, the boom and bust of the oilfield has made our lives interesting at best. During the boom, the draw of the oilfield was hard to resist but construction always had our backs. Finally, the passion and joy for building was stronger than any amount the consultant firms could offer.
We are passionate about bringing function and comfort to dated, disorderly kitchens and bathrooms, vitality to tired and worn-out spaces, transforming empty yards into inviting extensions of the home, and building up every area of the community we are entrusted with. We may live in “Oil City,” but we want to show future generations that they can make a living in more than the “oilpatch.”

After sports, Wood Shop was always my favorite part of school. The summer before my senior year, I worked with some friends that were logging and building roads through the forests of Saratoga, Wyoming, and outside of Custer, South Dakota, before moving on to clearing a wooded area for a road and fencing in Glendo National Park. This summer was the beginning of my love for working with cedar and other fresh-cut lumber.
After high school, the lucrative opportunities with oil and gas took me to California and the Coso Geothermal Projects. On my days off, I sought out contractors that could help me expand my skills as a craftsman. One memorable learning experience was on a job to remediate asbestos from the barracks of the China Lake Naval Weapons Center. From California, I headed North to Alaska. North Slope Drilling and offshore platforms are an amazing experience; and my schedule of four weeks on and two off gave me plenty of time to build custom renovations in my home, improving each and selling to buy a larger and larger home.
On a visit back to Casper, I ran into Crystal from high school. Long story short, we got married six months later and after six months in Wasilla, Alaska, we moved home to raise our children around our families. Yes, Alaska is incredible and leaving was difficult! In Wyoming, there seemed to be few well-paying opportunities outside of the oilfield, so I continued my boom/bust career with weeks off and downturns spent in construction. Finally, in 1998 I took the leap and got my Class II General Contractors License.
Shortly after, we started our first family construction company, co-owned by myself and Crystal’s brother, Harold. In the beginning, we started with exterior and interior remodeling projects, moving on to building additions and then family and multi-family homes. We had our own concrete forms and then also became Certified AARX ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) Installers because ICF is worth the initial building cost due to the energy savings over the life of the home, especially in Wyoming.
It was great to be home every night with my family after a hard, rewarding day’s work; but the oilfield wasn’t done with me yet. Goals changed and co-owners parted ways with little hope that construction would be my life’s work. Back to what’s familiar and pays well, I climbed the oilfield ladder in North Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Louisiana, and Montana. In 2006, I became a Drilling Consultant and four years later a Drilling Superintendent. No matter how much money or status the oilfield could give, building is in my blood and I couldn’t let it go. There is no greater satisfaction in my mind than to see the joy on my customers’ faces as we complete each phase of their project. It is with absolute joy that I build, remodel, transform & renew this community I call home.

Every single home I grew up in was remodeled, added on to, or built by my father (with the help of my mother and us kids as soon as we were old enough to swing a hammer). Up until his death, my father was building something, planning a build, or both. The late eighties were particularly challenging in Wyoming, and I made the decision to decline a graphic arts scholarship in favor of the United States Air Force. I was stationed at Beale Air Force Base, California, home of the SR-71 Blackbird. After the Gulf War, I decided that I wanted to be a full-time mother and separated from the military.
When Scott and I married in January, he was working for Parker Drilling and living in Alaska. Seeing the strain that leaving for the North Slope each month had on us, Scott left his position with Parker and we spent the spring and summer clear-cutting a small yard and making improvements to the house. With winter coming and missing family, we packed up and moved back to Casper. The roller coaster of oilfield employment was challenging, but Scott provided well with many other skills he had developed over his lifetime.
I did my best to help him with the many projects in our own home and for others. Because of my upbringing, not even roofing intimidated me. After one windy, winter week building a garage, I slept for nearly two days straight! Wyoming building is not for the faint of heart. The brave men and women who work in this industry earn every penny they make. These days, Scott doesn’t let me up on very many roofs; but I’m hard at work helping to keep BUILDIT prepared, organized, and efficient.
